About me, which basically turned into a blog overview

Hello,

So, as is typical in many bio intros, I will start this blog with a cliché statement, mainly because I haven't thought of anything better to say.

I never thought I would start a blog, let alone write it like I was talking to someone else!  I do not believe that people don't care about my thoughts and opinions and I am more than fine with that.  I am not attached to social media really at all.  I don't have Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook(I technically had a Facebook in college, but I lost the password years ago, and have never felt the need to recover it)

I wanted to start a journal because I want to become a better writer (I am not a good one now, bear with me).  What better way than to write more.  Although, I am typically very lazy doing things I don't like doing, and a complete overdoing it nut job with doing things that I like doing.  I will have no trouble sticking with doing something that I enjoy to do on a regular basis.  My favorite quote comes from the Lone Survivor movie, when the new SEAL is reciting their manta -

"Anything in life worth doing is worth overdoing.  Moderation is for cowards."

I don't believe I would stick with a journal.  The more I think about it, I believe blog writing will be something that I enjoy doing, because I can discuss a wide variety of topics that I love - mainly BJJ, Lifting Weights/Nutrition, and Games (Board and Video).  I have more interests, such as movies, reading, mobility, American football, etc. but I would say those main 3 are ones that focus a lot of my time towards.  I find it funny that I have gravitated towards two hobbies essentially at odds with each in lifting/BJJ/being active and being a lazy lump with playing games.  I am curious how many serious board gamers have competed in BJJ competitions!  If you are one of them reading this, contact me!  I have questions....

Anyway, as I mentioned above, my main objective of the blog is to improve my writing and just write more in general.  I do not have a structure for this blog, maybe I will think about creating one later, but knowing myself, probably not.  My main topics will obviously be the main 3 hobbies in the title of my blog, but I plan to branch out and discuss whatever is on my mind.  If anyone can read this and gain useful information from it,  I will truly be happy.

What I plan to write about the "Big 3" is the following:

- Lifting Weights/Nutrition:  My relative area of expertise.  I have 19 years of experience in the strength and conditioning field.  I have read countless sites, article, studies online and have tried to sift through as much b.s. as I have time to devote to doing so.  I have also tried many different lifting/cardio plans as well as "diets".  I want to talk about what I thought worked for me.  Granted one of the simplest, yet complex pieces of information regarding exercise, diets, and just health and well being in general is that you must find what works for your body, not anyone else's.  If you get that (that's the hard part as it takes time to figure out what works for you) it will be very easy for you to stay in shape, as long as you are consistent.  Specific goals/sport specific training is different and needs further discussion. I plan to delve into this also.

- BJJ: I want to log my training sessions and moves we went over, with notes from matches after drilling and any notes I want to add in about drilling.  My professor has told me to keep a journal for years, and I am lazy when I get home, and done want to do it. I am hoping this will help me be more consistent.  I also want to talk about any upcoming competitions I have coming up.  I am very competitive, crazy, and obsessed among many other things, about these and I think writing it done may help to stop me obsessing over each match weeks before it happens.

- Games: I have been a video gamer since birth.  The doctors initially thought I was wrapped around an umbilical cord when I came out.  Turns out I just had some Atari cables in their with me to keep me company.  I play a ton of games.  I unfortunately have a syndrome where I can only play a single player game once, beat it, and then really never want to play it again.  Needless to say, because of my ailment, I am required to have a new game fairly often.  I am thinking about writing reviews, but will see what I feel like as the time comes.

As of right now though, my main passion is in board games.  My wife and I have just started to become serious in them, with only playing them for about 6 months, but in that time we have amassed quite a collection of games (40+ and I have over 10 I am about to get for Christmas/my Birthday).  Almost everyday we play 1-2 games and discuss them.  I have researched more games to buy than I care to admit on youtube, BGG, etc.  Like I said above, when I like something, I don't hold back!  (Don't judge me and read the quote for crying out loud!)  I was thinking about writing reviews and while, I don't claim to be an expert , I am hoping to bring a new players opinion to what I think about a game and also bring a seasoned VG players opinion to a game.

Who Am I?

A couple minor facts about me, in case anyone is interested, and I believe it is easier to connect to someone when they aren't this mysterious person behind a computer.  I am about to be 33 years old at the end of this year.  I got married to my beautiful wife, Emily,  in July of this year.  We live in South Eastern PA with our two dogs that we love, adore, pamper, you get it, very much.

Our son and daughter, Turkish and Luna

I can't guarantee I will use correct punctuation and grammar all the time (I just had to google how to put an accent on cliché...you're welcome), or make these posts flow smoothly, but I promise to try to get better at doing it.  Except the punctuation part, who has time for that!

I promise to try and not make this blog different than others. I may discuss the same topics covered before on the web, but I am going to try my best to approach with a unique way that I have not read before.  I plan to only talk about things that I have vetted and attempted myself.  I do not feel confident reading something online and this regurgitating back to someone.  I am a doer.  Once I have  time to tinker with something, I get a much better handle on it and can explain it in terms that I feel many people can understand and utilize the information.

If you have come to blog, thank you, and I hope you enjoy it!
